The Manitoba Welsh Pony and Cob Association (MWP&CA) was founded out of a shared passion for promoting Welsh ponies in Manitoba, where few had even seen a purebred before the 1970s. Early members faced many challenges, from educating judges unfamiliar with the breed to building an association from scratch. Their dedication led to the launch of the first All Welsh Pony Show in 1975, a grassroots effort built on handmade ribbons, volunteer spirit, and a love for Welsh ponies.

Over the past almost 50 years, the MWP&CA has grown into a proud and resilient community, supporting Welsh pony and cob breeders and owners across Manitoba and beyond. From humble beginnings to producing champions on the national stage, members have remained committed to promoting and preserving the true Welsh breed standard. We are proud of our history, grateful for the hard work that brought us here, and excited for the future of Welsh ponies in Canada.
